New Industrial Connections in the Leather Sector: Expanding Uzbekistan–Russia Cooperation

During the latest working day of the INNOPROM–2025 International Industrial Exhibition in Yekaterinburg, representatives of the Uzcharmsanoat Association held productive negotiations with several leading Russian companies.

These meetings revealed real prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan’s leather and chemical industries, particularly in industrial cooperation, deep processing of wool, import of technological substances, and export of finished products.

At the meeting with the major Russian chemical company Polyplast Group, the sides discussed the supply of inorganic compounds, stabilizers, agents, and reagents necessary for processing leather and wool. Uzbekistan's industrial needs, price policies, and logistics options were reviewed. The parties agreed to exchange technical specifications and arrange the delivery of sample batches.

Discussions with the Head of the Industry Clients Department of Absolutbank focused on financial services for Uzbekistan's leather sector and credit opportunities on the Russian market. Based on a sector-specific approach, the bank proposed settlement, financing, and guarantee mechanisms through legal entities operating in Russia. Both sides expressed readiness to collaborate on individual investment projects.

Special attention was given to the deep processing of wool and the export of ready-made footwear to Russian regions. The growing demand in Russia for eco-friendly, locally sourced products was highlighted. Uzbek manufacturers, in turn, expressed their willingness to supply to both retail and industrial markets in Russia and to engage in joint cooperation projects.
