Industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Mongolia is reaching a new stage. Geographic proximity, access to raw materials, and processing capacity create favorable conditions for the production of competitive goods in regional markets.
As part of a business mission led by Akbar Sultonov, Chairman of the “Uzcharmsanoat” Association, a number of strategic negotiations were held in Mongolia.
One of the highlights of the visit was the interest expressed by Mongolian companies in gelatin and protein products made in Uzbekistan. Discussions focused on the possibility of re-exporting these products to South Korea and Japan through Mongolia.
This cooperation format not only opens new markets for Uzbek goods but also strengthens their position in international supply chains. Mongolia’s location near the Asia-Pacific region, its customs preferences, and logistics potential—combined with the high quality of Uzbek products—create a promising foundation for efficient exports.
The Uzbek delegation also visited the ECO Industrial Zone in Ulaanbaatar, where they examined the infrastructure, energy supply, and investment environment. Proposals were made to establish cooperation with Uzbek enterprises in processing wool and producing yarn on an outsourcing basis.
Additionally, bilateral ties were initiated with Mongolian suppliers of meat and raw hides. These connections are expected to contribute to the stable supply of raw materials for Uzbekistan’s leather industry and support cost optimization.
The exploration of re-export opportunities to Korea and Japan through Mongolia represents a strategic advancement for Uzbekistan’s industrial sector. Processing and clustering of gelatin, protein, wool, and leather — followed by re-export — is a critical component of global competitiveness in today’s economy.
